1. The Magician

The Magician tarot card, is numbered the first card in the Major Arcana, it is numbered one! The Major Arcana represents important major life influences, (Read Introduction to Tarot ) as opposed to the minor arcana, which usually gives minor details of the situation. The Major arcana is also sometimes seen by tarot readers as a journey through the numbered cards. The Magician is the first ‘person’ the fool runs into on his journey. Representing the fool’s first sense of conscious awareness, and becoming aware of his unique self. The magician offers the knowledge, supplies, and energy he needs in order to succeed. The following page will explain what The Magician Tarot card could mean when being drawn! There are many interpretations for each of the tarot cards, and I try my best to include every possible meaning. That is so you can come to the conclusion of it’s meaning pertaining to your life or your situation on your own. Really think about the question, when looking for the meaning of cards in a tarot spread!

2. You have done magic! This interpretation suggests that you have already done something amazing, or are just about to. Others around you stare in awe of a job well done! To them, what you have done is undeniable magic! Whatever the circumstance may be, you have created a situation in which you made something from what was seemingly nothing (like magic)! Those close to you, will be/are impressed by your feats and will wonder just how you pulled it all off! You are the magician preforming miracles and near impossible tasks. You may have amazed someone and not even know it!

3. New Beginnings, New Opportunities, and Creation  The Magician is marked number one in the major arcana. One in numerology represents independence, self sufficiency, and starting points. You have the resources and the power to create something great! Now is the beginning of a potentially life changing opportunity. It will be solely up to you to act on this, 1 also representing aloneness and independence. One is the first whole number there is, this can represent truly coming into existence, because before 1 there is a void, 0, like nothingness. Now is a time of creation, be unique with what ever craft you may choose.

4. Manifestation Now is the time to truly manifest in your dreams or ideas. This card is a good omen for any type of planned activity or situation coming to the mind. Anything you can dream of, can become reality with manifestation and a little elbow grease. In order to properly manifest in an idea, you have to have a clear goal or reward in mind, and also think of the things you need to make that a reality. Manifesting is declaring that it is so, and so it is. It is the power of creating an idea and executing and making that idea a reality. If you have a dream, now is the time to invest in it and make it really happen!

5. Divine Connection The magician is often seen with one hand in the air and one facing the ground, symbolizing his connection with the divine spiritual realm and our earthly physical realm. When being drawn, this card could mean you are becoming conscious of your spiritual being. Similarly it may represent your awareness of the impact you have on earth as a physical being and how that effects the real world. The magician is supposed to represent the bridge between the spirit world and ours, sharing secrets and power from the other side! This connection can be magical!

6. You have Control and Influence  The Magician tarot card showcases the control you have over your own life, destiny, and decisions. You are the one behind the curtains preforming the magic that makes you who you are today. You are the sole person who is in control of the daily activities and influence you have on the world. The control you have makes you who you are. Every action you preform will effect and influence others, inadvertently or on purpose. It is your job to take a step back and see how your control changes the world around you, based on what you choose to do with yourself. Every thought could change the world as we know it, and the power of knowing this will give you ultimate control of your future.

7. Potential You have everything laying out right in front of you. The universe has weaved you an amazing path for you to stroll along. Just what are you waiting for? This interpretation suggests that there is potential for something amazing to happen, you just have to work for it. Use your resources and knowledge to continue on. Potential can be wasted, this will require action and thought to pull off. It is not a passive gift, this is an opportunity that could easily slip through your fingertips! Act and there will be great rewards, or at least great adventures!

8. Will, Initiative, and Determination- Having initiative is so important during this time. When drawing this card, always remember that the magician and the high priestess are counter parts. The magician being the masculine energy and the high priestess being the feminine energy. Masculine nature is to act on the physical world rather than mentally. Whatever is happening in your life requires action, initiative and will. Determination is perhaps the most important key aspect!

Reversed Magician Tarot Card Meaning

Quick Cheat Sheet The Reversed Magician Represents:
Deceit, greed, manipulation, tricks, illusions, lack of action, taking the wrong course of action, lack of energy, ill intentions, hesitation, powerless

9. Animal Totem Tarot by Robertson and Smith ©2016 Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.

1. Greed, Manipulation, and Trickery! As you may imagine, the magician reversed can also represent greed and trickery. Pay attention to new and old faces in your life, and decide for yourself what their intentions truly are. Watch for any tricks being played on you. This card hints at manipulation, not all may be as it seems, don’t believe everything you see or hear. This could also be a warning for YOU not to become manipulative or sneaky to others around you. Are you becoming selfish or greedy? Reflect on the situation and figure out where the tricks are coming from, they may be right in front of you!

2. Lack of Action There is action needing to be taken and yet you are doing nothing. This card suggests that you should be doing something, and if you’re like me, it may be hard to think about exactly what action you should be taking. Evaluate situations you have maybe never thought of before, think about possible future opportunities and set a goal. Work at something progressive for yourself. The work will pay off in a grand way considering the magician is trying to tell you something about your future.

3. You don’t know how to Manifest / Shouldn’t Manifest The reversed Magician card could be suggesting that you don’t know how to manifest. The magician card is largely meant to represent manifesting your dreams into a reality. When it is reversed it means that you have will and determination but can’t seem to figure out how to make things happen. Keep trying you will figure it out sooner or later! It could also mean that you are following the wrong path. That you are manifesting in an idea that is not meant for your future or for the life path pre-planned for you. Think of other goals you can aim for. Even if for reasons unknown to you you are making the wrong decisions, everything will end up fine.

The Magician in The Fool’s Journey

11. Initiatory Golden Dawn Tarot © 2008 Lo Scarabeo

(The fool’s journey is a story made from the major arcana cards in a tarot deck) The fool is suddenly on a path along the outskirts of a village. Continuing his journey, the Fool runs into a magician! He is talented, skilled, active, masculine, mysterious, and powerful. The magician puts a trance over the fool. He has mastered the four elements, water, fire, earth, and air and plans to show the fool what he can. He is a guardian, a teacher, and also the master of illusion. His wisdom and teachings may come to us in odd ways, dreams, signs, things you could imagine a magician would enjoy to do. He could give us signs in glimpses and coincidences. He offers the fool guidance in hidden and confusing ways. He is thought of as our subconscious awareness. As a man prone to creative impulses, the magician grants the fool opportunity to learn about the four elements and their corresponding items, the love and emotion of cups, material possessions and work represented by pentacles, the intellect and communication of swords, and the passion of wands.
