21. The World

The first thing to be noted about The World tarot card, is that it is the last card of the major arcana! The Major Arcana represents important major life influences, (Read The Fool’s Journey to learn more about the major arcana) it is also sometimes seen by tarot readers as a journey through the numbered cards, starting with the fool who’s number is 0, taking us all the way through to The World which is the 21st and final card. That accurately sets the tone for the meaning of The World card. Below are six interpretations of this card, along with two reversed card meanings, and finally the correspondences to the “The World”. The following page will explain what The World Tarot card could mean when being drawn! There are many interpretations for each of the tarot cards, and I try my best to include every possible meaning. That is so you can come to the conclusion of it’s meaning, pertaining to your life or your situation, on your own. Really think about the question, when looking for the meaning of cards in a tarot spread. Enjoy!

2. Physical World Travel The World may also represent physical world travel. You may have received an offer to travel for work, or maybe on opportunity to vacation in a foreign country for an extended period of time. You are either traveling now or will be traveling soon. This card indicates that you’ll be comfortable and welcome where ever you decide to visit.

3. You’ve found your Place in the World The World also represents a period where you recognize your place in this world. You can see how your actions intertwine with others and connect to make the world a better place. Maybe you have even recently come to an understanding of your impact in the world.

4. Wholeness This card can also point to a strong feeling of unity, wholeness, and fulfillment. Are you feeling like you are at one with the universe? Or perhaps feeling whole in your relationship or even as a person.

   5. Feeling the Weight of the World- The World can also signify that you are figuratively feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders. This could mean responsibilities or decisions that are weighing you down. Take one breath at a time and realize you can only do so much.

6. Congratulations are in order! This is a card about not only completing things, but also getting well earned applause and pats on the back for doing so. It means that the goal you’ve been working on will receive the highest acclaim and praise.

Reversed World Tarot Card Meaning

Quick Cheat Sheet The Reversed World Represents:  Lack of success, disappointment, burden, No closure, Emptiness, Isolation

1. Delayed The reversed World can indicate that a goal will be delayed and that more time and energy must be put into the goal if you want to successfully achieve it.

2. Stumbling The reversed World can also indicate a time when you are close to reaching completion but for no real reason, you lose focus and try cutting corners. Organize yourself, evaluate yourself, and remind yourself how close you are to reaching your goal and that you can have the world if you persist. This suggests that you are trying to achieve completion in your life but you are not taking all the steps necessary to do so. There is a tendency to take the easiest or quickest path to finish early but often this does not lead to the outcome you had planned.

The World in The Fool’s Journey

(The fool’s journey is a story made from the major arcana cards in a tarot deck) The fool gratefully takes the last step along his path, and amazingly figures out that he is about to step off of the very same cliff from the beginning. The world shows the fool that everything happens in cycles. The world is connected in every way. He feels fulfilled, complete, enlightened, and whole. The future is promising with infinite possibilities. The fools journey was not meaningless and finally became successful. Now he must move onto his next journey!
